Pre-season preparation and basic training

Winter is just around the corner and it's the perfect time to prepare for the upcoming ski touring season. Even though the first snow has already fallen in many regions, we would like to give you some tips and information about ski touring and basic training.

Why basic training is important

Solid basic training is essential to develop the stamina and strength to successfully master your after-work ski tour with friends, as well as long and challenging ski tours later in the season. It not only helps to improve your performance, but also to prevent injuries. Through targeted training, you can improve your fitness, strengthen your muscles and refine your technique right now.

Training tips for ski tourers

  1. Fitness training: Regular endurance training such as running, cycling or swimming improves your general fitness and prepares your body for the stresses and strains of ski touring. Try to train at least three to four times a week for 30-60 minutes and exercise in the great outdoors.
  2. Strength training: Exercises such as squats, lunges and planks strengthen the leg and core muscles, which are particularly stressed when ski touring. Additional targeted strength training can work wonders. Also think about exercises for the upper body muscles to ensure a balanced workout.
  3. Coordination and balance: Exercises on unstable surfaces, such as balance boards or exercise balls, improve stability and coordination. These skills are particularly important for walking safely on uneven terrain. Integrate balance exercises into your daily training.
  4. Technique training: Use the time before the first snow to refine your skiing technique. Hiking or running with poles is particularly good for the entire musculoskeletal system.

Nutrition and regeneration

A balanced diet plays an important role in preparing for the ski touring season. Of course, this is just as individual as the training. Make sure you have a sufficient intake of carbohydrates, proteins and healthy fats. Drink enough water to stay hydrated. After training, regeneration is important: stretching exercises, massages and sufficient sleep help the body to recover.

We wish you a successful preparation and look forward to seeing you on the slopes and in the mountains. Let's experience the fascination of ski touring together and enjoy nature to the full.
Stay fit, stay safe and see you soon on the next ski tour!
