The history of HAGAN Ski

The touring ski manufacturer HAGAN SKI was founded 1924.
Here you will find an overview of how HAGAN has developed since then.

1924

Inspired by the growing popularity of skiing in Austria, the brothers Franz and Hans Hager began manufacturing skis in their wainwright's workshop. Specializing in bending wood with the help of steam, the wainwright's shop provided the best conditions for ski production. The brothers named their company HAGAN, after the first letters of their family name "Hag "er and the company's headquarters in "An "tiesenhofen (Upper Austria).

1925/26

Sales of about 500 pairs of skis - classic solid wood skis, cut from ash slats, soaked in water and bent over a heated iron model.

1950

The daughter of the founder Hermine Siegesleuthner (maiden name: Hager) and her husband Ludwig Siegesleuthner joined the company. They successfully led the company to industrial series production of skis.

1960

Ski production was constantly evolving. Years of experience in mountain sports as well as the aspiration for optimization drove a strong focus on innovation - from the shift to layered skis to specially developed plastics, metals, paints, bases and special machinery for production. Skis were now manufactured and marketed internationally using sandwich compound construction, a method that uses layers of wood, fiberglass and aluminum.

1975

Franz Siegesleuthner, the grandson of Franz Hager, took over the management. The family business is thus in the hands of the third generation. In addition to winter sports products such as skis, snowboards, sleds and toboggans, the production facility of the traditional company in Antiesenhofen also manufactured the mountain bike "HAGAN Titanal" and also windsurf boards in the 80s.

1995

Until the beginning of the 90s, the company experienced strong growth. Due to three winters with little snow and a shrinking market volume worldwide, the years in the mid-90s represented crisis years for the entire Austrian ski industry.

In the course of this change, HAGAN specialized in the development and production of touring skis, which had always been a core competence of the company. The company succeeded in upswing and together with his wife Alexandra Franz Siegesleuthner continues to lead the company HAGAN Ski.

2015

With the Hagan "pure!", Hagan is launching its own skitouring boot on the market and, in combination with the Hagan Z02 frame binding, is becoming a full-range supplier in the touring ski segment.

2017

The popularity of ski touring is advancing worldwide and, for Hagan, so is the sale of ski touring equipment. The company, which previously operated in the European-international region, is expanding into the USA.

2018

Pin bindings are becoming more and more important. Hagan finds in ATK BINDINGS a partner that lives the same values - highest reliability of the products and a reliable customer service - in its company philosophy. In 2018, HAGAN starts the production of its in-house pin bindings in cooperation with the Italian specialist ATK BINDINGS. Lighweight bindings with uncompromising downhill performance, an improvement which moves  Hagan to the next level of ski touring.

2019

In 2019, HAGAN celebrated its 95th anniversary. The anniversary was celebrated with the release of the
"ULTRA Limited Edition": the ski was produced in lengths 164 cm and 170 cm in a limited edition of 95 pieces each.

2020

Hagan is crowned multiple test winner in the World Ski Test. With a rating of "Very Good" for the CORE 89 and an "Excellent" for the CORE LITE 84, Hagan starts the 20/21 touring season.

2021

Climate change is advancing and drastically affecting the world. To make a contribution, HAGAN SKI has entered into a partnership with Protect Our Winters Austria. In addition to a donation, as a communication partner of POW Austria, we can motivate our Hagan Community to use the mountain environment responsibly.

2022

In order to build on the success of recent years, the company is strengthening its sales and marketing staff. With the help of the expanded team, national and international sales are to be strengthened and market opportunities exploited.

2023

In the season 23/24 HAGAN SKI presents two new ski series - the "all-mountain" series CORE CARBON and the "fast" series ULTRA. The new ski models convince both by their appealing design and are already continuously awarded in the current ski tests.
